Not Lhermitte-duclos Disease and Cowden Syndrome (kinda)

I have racked my brain for the last few weeks about something to write about that’s non-medical.  But, let’s face it.  Pretty much my whole life revolves around medical everything or how medical somethings have fundamentally changed my life for the much, much, worse.  But, since I am a list maker, list writer, list-follower (?) I thought it’d be a good object lesson for me to write some things going on that aren’t really brain tumor related.  So, here goes:

  • Saw a nutritionist last week.  She said no more protein shakes after my workouts, and instead to drink 2% chocolate milk.  I’m all for trying something new!
  • This is my birthday week!  Celebrated by getting a fancy manicure and DID. NOT. BUY. the Fossil bag I have drooled over for months (in Mushroom, BTW).  That, there, is growth!
  • Last night I spoke at a treatment center in a Twelfth Step panel.  Quite the experience!  🙂
  • Just before I began this post, I was at the animal shelter in the Cat Rooms.  I noticed that one cat in particular, Rita, didn’t look right.  Her hair seemed wet, and I guess she could have gotten in fight with another one and they could have fallen into a water dish.  But, what’s more likely is that she is ill because I heard that there is a something going around there.  I told the front office staff and I pray they look into it.
  • Been doing quite a bit of genealogy work on my mom’s family line.  I hope to never hear, “Oh, all my work has been done!” because it’s never done!  I love it so much.  I know these ancestors of mine are real people and they just wanted to be found and validated as once living souls on this earth.
  • I am thinking about doing another Booster fundraiser t-shirt.  (Especially since I shrunk mine in the dryer this morning.  #FacePalm.)  Would you be interesting in buying one?  More info. on this soon.
  • My new favorite reality TV shows:  Number 1 and Number 2.  Color me hooked; only for a few reasons.  #1 – because the single, girl in me hopes for love one day, no matter what the way. And #2 – because Days of Our Lives.
  • I have a trip planned in July and I am SO. EXCITED.  Here’s a clue:

Fun Fact Friday 1/23/15

Some of you know I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have written several posts about being a member of this church, and as I looked at the calendar I knew exactly what I wanted to write about today:

Twenty-seven years ago TODAY I made the choice to be baptized.  I was 15!  As they say, “Where has the time gone?!”  Geez, I could wax philosophical.  But, I won’t.  I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel and I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God.  I know it.  I have a testimony of Family History work and the importance of seeking out our kindred.  Just this week I was working on the Family Search site and searching for sources on one of my mom’s line.  I found one of my ancestors listed on a U.S. Census but who was not listed on the website.  Which means no one had any record of her!  Quickly I did some more digging searching and was able to verify who she was via the sources (I LOVE the sources!)  And this was all in a matter of less than 1 hour!

I wonder what they all did right after this picture was taken?

I’m not a good housekeeper, apparently

  1. I haven’t forgotten about Fun Fact Friday.  Just haven’t had any fun Fridays lately to write about.
  2. I DID NOT HAVE ANY POLYPS THIS LAST COLONOSCOPY!  In all my anger about not having the endoscopy I forgot to mention that GREAT news.
  3. I love to do genealogy.  After church today I spent 3.5 hours in front of my computer.  Doing it all.  I couldn’t get up from the computer.  It was if I was literally pulled to it.  AND, I found 2 of my mom’s ancestors that WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT.  This tells me something, big time, about how much our ancestors want to be found.  Maybe in another post I’ll write about it.
  4. Here is a quick update I did on my GoFundMe page just now.  I love social media in all forms, and there are different audiences in each that I can reach.  Awareness; advocacy.  It’s all the same to me. It’s about getting rare disease stuff out there.  To the people.
  5. More on this post title:  It was play on words about “Housekeeping” on my blog.  As in a quick catch up.  In other news, I’m not going to post a picture of my room.  You’d see that “Bad Housekeeper” is written in my room, too.  🙂

Fun Fact Friday 3/21/14 (late)

So, I am late again with this  Fun Fact Friday.  And, to be honest, I’m not sure how fun these facts are.  🙂  But, I am going to do a 2fer again since I was late in writing this post.

I have done a bit of research into my family history, and I love it.  I am hooked!  I found out some very interesting information yesterday, so here we go:

  1. My great-grandmother is the product of a union between 2 first cousins.  In Ireland, back in the day, who knows what went on?  Also, we also don’t know if one of the cousin’s parents was adopted.  Many different scenarios could have played out.
  2. I have ancestors from Germany.  This is very exciting news to me!
